Check-In at For Five: Coffee, Vibes, and Daily Deposits
Not a Hotel Lobby, but feels like home.
Hey Crew
It feels good to be writing here again. I always imagined The Hotel Lobby as a space where we could slow down together. A place that feels like a cozy chair, a warm espresso, and the soft hum of conversation where travel, gratitude, and personal growth overlap.
So, welcome (or welcome back). I hope you’ll stay awhile.
Espresso Spotted: For Five Coffee, Midtown Atlanta
Every now and then, you stumble on a spot that just gets it. That’s how I felt walking into For Five Coffee, tucked above The Office Bar in Midtown Atlanta, right across from the Epicurean Hotel.
🎶 The soundtrack? SZA, Drake, Beyoncé — those artists that make you feel something. A restroom break can turn into a concert real quick.
☕ The espresso? Strong, smooth, made for people who actually care about coffee. Cortados are my speed with simple espresso and warm milk.
🍫 The mochas + teas? Rich and inviting.
🥐 The menu? STACKED with sweet and savory meals complemented with sweet treats.
I am animal-based eating these days (more on that later) but I for sure cashed in a cheat meal ticket with the B.L.A.T sandwich. I highly recommend, but promise me you will order it on a croissant! The Maple-glazed thick-cut bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato, and basil mayo sit steady on the lightly toasted croissant.
The pastry display is piled with fresh cookies, croissants, and flaky pastries for eye candy.
What do I love most?
Beyond the food, it’s built for people like us. Natural light pours in, there’s just enough bustle to keep you energized, and it’s the kind of spot where you can focus for hours. If I could rent a table and post up all day, I would.
💡 A little data to sip on:
Studies have shown that natural lighting in cafes and workspaces boosts mood, productivity, and even customer satisfaction. According to a Future Workplace survey, 78% of employees say access to natural light improves their well-being.*
And here’s something I’ve noticed in my travels (backed by research): coffee shops that offer full menus — not just pastries but real meals — are becoming more of a go-to for remote workers and long-stay guests. A 2022 Square report showed that cafes with expanded food offerings saw up to a 25% increase in dwell time and repeat visits.
And when the workday winds down? You simply head downstairs to The Office Bar. It is a warm, library-like, with wide, sturdy bar seating, plenty of outlets, and a kind of quiet welcome that makes you want to linger. Similar vibe with a full menu and bar, the seating can accommodate a Happy Hour or a full-on brainstorm session while the game plays in the background.
Neither spot is technically a hotel lobby, but they feel like one: a place to recharge, reflect, and just be.
